Horizon West is a master-planned community that was designed to grow — and the infrastructure build-out is happening now. Here are the biggest completed projects, what's under construction, and what’s funded/approved next:

1.  Horizon West was planned as five mixed-use villages plus a Town Center and has a formal special-planning area — the county’s planning pages show the framework and goals. (more info click here)
2. Multiple new OCPS schools have been planned/built to serve Horizon West (new elementary and middle school projects are in OCPS project lists). Use OCPS project pages to show school openings/under construction.  (more info: OCPS)
3. Major roadway/connectivity projects have been completed or are in construction (Schofield Road paving and State Road 429 connections have opened or been upgraded to improve access). Use local news / county traffic project pages for timelines. (more info: Orange County)
4. Developers are funding roadway improvements through Proportionate-Share agreements and other mechanisms — that’s how growth pays for needed infrastructure. (more info: Horizon West)
5. New parks, town-center retail and community facilities are planned or underway (county and local news show Silverleaf Park, Hamlin/Town Center build-out, library plans, etc.) (West Orange Observer)

Lots of growth here — worth sharing: Horizon West was planned as a complete community and the infrastructure build-out is well underway. New schools are being added by OCPS, roads like Schofield have been paved and connected to SR-429, and parks and a Town Center are in development. If you’re hearing ‘there’s no infrastructure,’ - please be assured that there is an incredible amount of thoughtful, modern infrastucture that has already been built out and or is planned to be in the near future.  Hundreds of millions of dollars in infrastructure build out.
